My Thoughts

 1.    How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

The product that I used for my commercial which was the Apple AirPod’s Pro challenged conventions by using people that are not professional actors. The actors in the commercial were just ordinary people that are not used to doing things within film. It also challenges conventions because it was made in a real world setting without having control of outside variables unlike most professional commercials that are props made to give it that specific setting or scenery. The product can represent some social groups because some believe that if you do not have these then you are considered “broke” which is not true, but it could represent them. Some issues that this can solve would be the issue that you are not able to carry a pair of earbuds with you and these would be able to allow someone to do that easily. This solves an issue that a lot of people have to where they cannot find a small pair of earbuds that are very portable.

2.    How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My product engages with the audience because it is something that they could use in a vast amount of settings. They could use it at school, work, while going for a run, and just when they want to listen to music. There are many things that this has a use for, so it is not surprising that they are very popular. It could be distributed as a real media text by displaying the features it has with images and video. It could be shown off with videos to display what the person who is wearing the air pods is listening. As well as showing off the product itself in images that can show off their design and make the viewer understand them better.

3.    How did your production skills develop throughout the project?

During the project my production skills developed a lot. I feel that since the start of the project, I developed being more comfortable on camera. At the beginning I was very shy and not that comforting and as we continued to film, I became more and more comfortable with it. I also feel that I developed my skills of acting. I feel that I went from someone who had zero idea of what is as doing to someone who started to understand what is going on when it comes to things I am supposed to do as an actor.

4.    How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project?

In this project, we decided to use the technology that we already had available to us because it allowed us to use the things that we already know how to use which allowed us to use the most out of it. We integrated our software and hardware by using editing platforms that were designed by the same company as the ones that we used the cameras from. As well as we integrated the hardware aspect by showing off the hardware of the device and how the software in it can take maximum advantage of the hardware that is there. We then used the web to help show off specific parts of the product when we were editing.
