Title Design Research: City Slickers

 1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

Some of the titles that are displayed throughout the opening of the scene are titles that show    different aspects of the movie. They show the sections of the film and what the topic is. Titles are also used to show off the characters and what they do. 

2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The images that are prioritized are the ones that show off the characters. This is so that the       viewer can see who the characters are and see what their role is in the film. It also allows the reader to see what props are used throughout the movie. This can give the viewer a clear idea of what they are trying to show. 

3. What connotation do these images carry?

These images carry the connotation of action or excitement. They show the viewer how in the film people will carry on a mood that will get their attention. This will bring an adventure to the film. 

4. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

The film establishes a feeling of the genre by showing an action taking place that shows what is going on. It also shows a feeling of humor as the titles and actors are joking around with props and throwing items around. As well it shows a feeling of discovery at the beginning with people searching for something. 

5. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

Some strategies that the filmmakers used to appeal to the target audience are using titles that are large, action, and more. The large titles build a sense of drama until the action is shown a few seconds later. The action of the actors builds suspense that an adventure is going to happen. The animals that are in the scene also show what the titles were representing. 

6. How has technology been used effectively? 

 

Technology has been used effectively by titles effectively showing what is happening. Editing makes everything flow smoothly together. The camera angles make the actors seem powerless and the ones not in control.

Today was the first day that I planned to film. It started off according to plan where I met the people that I would be filming with at their house to pick them up and get ready to film. We then headed back to my house to gather all of the supplies needed for the film. I then checked the weather forcast and saw that it was supposed to rain in two hours. Which gave us just enough time to start filming at one of the locations. I thougth we would have time and then it would start raining and it would all be okay. Hi there, my name is Aaron Shaffer and I am a student at Fort Lauderdale High School. I am 16 years old and in my third year of high school. Over the years, through the opportunities I have been able to receive, I have been able to achieve a lot academically. Common Camera Angles • High-angles are used to show what is being looked down on as powerless and weak. • Close-up shots are included to focus on the character’s reaction to a scene. • Tracking shots are used to show a character being watched or followed. • Tilted angels often are added to add dramatic tension in a scene. • Extreme long shots are used to show the setting and overall atmosphere of the place. • Low-angle shots are used to show a character having power and strength. • Point of view shots is included to capture the audience’s attention with what the character is seeing.
