Title Design Research: Eternals

 1.     What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

Some titles that are displayed in the opening scene are shown to show fear from one of the actors. An example is when one of the titles is representing an actor and what they are about to do. This allows the viewer to see what the actors are and what their position in the movie is. Another is when they show how the titles that show the setting allow the viewer to understand where this is all going on. 

2.     What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The images that are prioritized in the opening scene are usually ones that build suspense or tension between actors. The suspense of what’s going to happen next is used so that people can be more attached to the movie to wait to see what is going to happen next. The tension between actors is used to get the viewer’s attention to see what they will do to each other. 

3.     What connotation do these images carry?

The connotation that these images carry is that they show the character’s side and their meaning throughout the film.  Actors show their personality by using props or what they say to express themselves. The setting images that are shown mean that they have a challenging area to live in and they must adapt to that to survive while dealing with everyone else. 

4.     How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

The film establishes a feeling of the genre from the outset by showing people going along an adventure and running into issues. They get the viewer ready to want to see more which is what the genre is supposed to do. It also establishes a feeling of the genre by building suspense for what is going to happen next. The film does this to grab the viewer’s attention to watch more. 

5.     What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

Some strategies that the filmmakers used to appeal to their targeted audience are some of the types of camera angles that they use. They use extreme close-up shots to show how angered and powerless an actor is.  They also use wide-angle shots to show the actors having confrontations. 

6.     How has technology been used effectively? 

 

Technology has been used effectively to create the film and the editing techniques that are used. The filmmakers effectively used their editing software to make the movie flow together with jump cuts, shot/reverse/shots, and more. They also used technology to advertise the film correctly for their targeted audience.

Today was the first day that I planned to film. It started off according to plan where I met the people that I would be filming with at their house to pick them up and get ready to film. We then headed back to my house to gather all of the supplies needed for the film. I then checked the weather forcast and saw that it was supposed to rain in two hours. Which gave us just enough time to start filming at one of the locations. I thougth we would have time and then it would start raining and it would all be okay. But, as we headed to the filming location it started to rain super badly. But, because of where I live you can usually wait 15 minutes and it will go away. Hi there, my name is Aaron Shaffer and I am a student at Fort Lauderdale High School. I am 16 years old and in my third year of high school. Over the years, through the opportunities I have been able to receive, I have been able to achieve a lot academically. Common Camera Angles • High-angles are used to show what is being looked down on as powerless and weak. • Close-up shots are included to focus on the character’s reaction to a scene. • Tracking shots are used to show a character being watched or followed. • Tilted angels often are added to add dramatic tension in a scene. • Extreme long shots are used to show the setting and overall atmosphere of the place. • Low-angle shots are used to show a character having power and strength. • Point of view shots is included to capture the audience’s attention with what the character is seeing.
