Jam Out to Those Tunes
For this film, I felt music was an essential taste to my film. Music I feel is an important role in my everyday life as it can change someone's entire mood as well as make them more focused on a topic at hand. It can change someone's entire mood by creating a vibe that can bring people together to make everything better for someone. For this reason, I feel it is important to implement it correctly into the film to make sure it can get the viewer's attention as well as use that attention to create a vibe or theme the viewer will want to continue watching. This I felt would be a great way to bring my film to the next level. I had a vast amount of music choices at my disposal for the film as many different songs could be used to create the theme or vibe that I wanted for the film. To get music for the film I needed to get access from a producer to be able to use their music to not get a copyright claim against it. As this film was not for profit, I felt it would be easier to be able to have the right to use someone else's music in my film. But, first I needed to see what type of music I needed to use for the film. Once I had figured out what music I wanted to use I felt it would be good to start with someone that I know and text them to see if it was fine for me to use their music during my film. I also knew that it does take a while for people to reply within the film industry so texting someone that I know personally could help a lot with speeding the process up with having the rights to access music. They have let me use their music in the past so I felt they would happily let me use their music in this film. So, I went ahead and texted Sean Macneir or as he goes by Smac to see if he was fine with letting me use one of his songs in my film. At first, he was very understanding of my situation and why I was asking to be able to have the rights to his music. But, contrary to my thoughts, he felt it was not the best thing to be able to give me the rights to his music as he felt a film for an education department does not align with the goal that he made music for. This surprised me, and I was now in a situation I was not expecting. So, I had to begin thinking of some backup ideas. I had thought of emailing some other producers to see if they could let me have the rights to some of their music or be able to use audio that is non-copyright sound. So, I decided to execute both plans I began to email a couple of agencies to see if they would allow me access to their music but none of the three that I emailed got back to me in time for me to decide if I could use them or not. So, I had to go online and find some non-copyright sound that could work for my project. This was a harder task than I had thought as I found the selection for music that I thought would work well was very limited. But, eventually, after some time, I did find a couple of songs that I felt would be a good choice that did not have copyright and saved those ready to be able to be put into the film later.
